Websters dictionary defines life as;
Eagle in the dark
Feathers in the pages
Monkeys in my heart
Are rattleing their cages
Found a way to blue
Another ghost to follow
Said it's only up to you
It's the hardest pill to swallow
"The condition that distinguishes animals and plants from inorganic matter, including the capacity for growth, reproduction, functional activity, and continual change preceding death."
Wiki-the mini God for all-pedia defines it as something much more complex with words such as 'self sustaining process', 'inanimate' and so on..
Is it that simple? Or rather I should be asking Is it EVER simple?
When you are growing up your parents protect you from the 'big bad world'. You read stories like 'Hansel and Gretel' and the 'Red riding hood'. All these fables by Brothers Grimm (who are the most awesome people ever!) tell us how the petite innocent children have to be smart and protect themselves.
We grow up knowing that Snow white was poisoned by the evil Queen in the form of an apple. Cinderella had an utterly evil step mother and two equally evil albeit dumb sisters.
What I mean to say is that we are conditioned to not easily sway into the dangerous things in life. Its a lesson right from the word Go! It is that simple.
Then why do we end up being treacherous or meek or manipulative?!
I guess the conditioning process for all is NOT the same. And some just don't want to live a 'clean' life.
Anywho, life gets a new meaning every time we face a new challenge. It starts with school, first day is BAD! You miss the mommy love. If you have a mother like mine then you miss her more. She gives you a handkerchief which she kissed that morning to remind you she is always close by. The tears don't stop falling. But we 'condition' ourselves to that too. We make friends. We have a life! *hallelujah*
After twelve years and then some years of schooling comes the College life. There is fear, heart burns, hyperventilation and so on and so forth.
College. A new lease of life. The first day is always weird. Your life is about to be changed forever. Three years of absolute fun and oodles of drama follows. You meet people you love, like, dislike, can't bear to be around and simply hate.
But these three years shape you into what you are forever going to remain.
Someone once said 'college days are the best of your life' and after three years of cribbing and hating college I agree.
Human beings tend to miss something most when its over and done with. I am certainly no different.
Then life takes over. Phew!
Its a tough world out there. I am twenty one (twenty two is a few months far off) and I can say that the world is a funny and scary place to be in.
All kinds of sharks lurking around the corner to nab you.
The trick is to keep that child who read about Hansel and Gretel, who was nervous about the first day of school and college, alive. Its like the star wars, the dark side versus the good one. You just have to live in the dark side without turning into the Sith.
Ha! Easier said than done.
My teeny brain says try. Solve the puzzle of life. Its tough but what the hell?! Life is something we all define in our own ways. I am off to the land of far far away to find mine. Complex things..complex answers...
And I hum....
Feathers in the pages
Monkeys in my heart
Are rattleing their cages
Found a way to blue
Another ghost to follow
Said it's only up to you
It's the hardest pill to swallow
Peace out.
